Flemish Dyers, c. 1482

This picture from the Liber de natura rerum, created in 1482 and currently residing in the British Museum in London, depicts an affluent merchant holding a length of cloth, and two dyers dyeing fabric red. The dyers wear aprons and are stirring a large vat set into the now-familiar enclosed furnace with equally familiar large sticks. Fuel for the fire is shown to the bottom right. Undyed fabric is to the bottom left, and blue fabric in the middle.
