An Elizabethan Smock and Shirt
This photograph is of a man's shirt, c. 1580-1590 (left) and a woman's smock, c. 1610 (right). Both are of fine, tightly woven linen and embroidered with black silk. You can also check out other Elizabethan smocks from the V&A Museum.
A Jacobean Jacket
This jacket, embroidered with polychrome silks on a linen ground, dates to c, 1620. It has turn back cuffs, a fall-back half collar and closes with silk ribbons up the front. It is in many ways similar to the Margaret Laton Jacket at the V&A Museum.
